Ethical swimwear materials

Ethically-sourced materials are starting to play a vital role in fashion design across the globe, as people are becoming increasingly environmentally aware and are seeking to live greener, more sustainable lifestyles. Individuals are going back to basics in a sense by using natural materials and renewable resources and looking back at traditional lifestyles, where clothes were made from our surroundings and materials were, for the most part, cheaper and easier to find. The world of swimwear fashion is no different, with the use of modern, sustainable materials spurring innovative swimwear design.

Nowadays, brands are catching on to the benefits of sustainable swimwear, and implementing ethical materials in their swimwear. For example, Atoms is a company located in Los Angeles, USA. In March, it was announced that Atoms had created the world's first sustainable swimwear made from PLA plastic--farming corn instead of using fossil fuels. The company has pledged to make as many sustainable materials as possible without compromising on style.

The term ethical materials used to describe different swimwear materials that have not been sourced such as plastics or fibers created from the harvesting and/or the use of animal and renewable materials. These materials, some of the which are cotton, polyester and nylon, are used for their resistance to chlorine and flattering qualities for the skin. In addition to the aforementioned qualities, there are other benefits to buying ethical fabrics that are recycled or created from animal fibers. Ethical materials are usually more durable than synthetic ones, and keep people from ridding the oceans of cosmetics.

Created to meet requirements

So Bathers based out of Sydney offers swimsuits made from a cornstarch-based textile that is responsible for preserving the environment and they come in a variety of different colors to cater to different customer needs. This alternative to polyester is even chlorine resistant. The company's slogan is "Dressed sustainably not showy", and that's what sets them apart.

Organic fabrics are better since they don't use pesticides, they have more nutrients and colours are more vibrant. Innovative designs are also in the article and there is also a list of the tyoe of foods people can eat to stay healthy and hydration for during the summer months. The article ends positively by asking readers to try out eco-friendly suits so the designer doesn't have to compromise on modesty and purity.
