At some point in the last year, your significant other probably convinced you to attend a music concert or festival. Sweat-proof makeup is a commodity that women don't typically think about until they notice it's its own product. But it is one that is especially important at music festivals, where there's myriad of sweat-inducing activities. Wear a face you can feel confident in all night long with these handy tips from the Everyday Strategist.
Ring your festival look with pigment-rich shades. Poppy hues looks especially flattering on a summertime complexion. Whether you're contouring your forehead and nose or painting the lower third of your face in a 90s-inspired fresh flush, these three steps are the keys to your six-year old-looking skin staying fresh.
Step 1: Alternate your bronzer with iridescent powders
Start with a generous dusting of iridescent powder below the cheekbone. This will help ward off any natural oil or shine, while diffusing light a bit. Whether you choose peachy-pink Champagne or sea foam green, this can easily become your new go-to for any outing.
Step 2: Highlight with a bronzer
Bronzer is designed to replicate natural sun exposure, catching the light and adding warm undertones that might be otherwise missing. Put a few dabs on your cheeks, the bridge of your nose, and the top of your forehead. When looking in the mirror, a warm orange-pink glow should wash over your complexion.
Step 3: Finish with a radiant finish
A luminous gloss will want to keep you looking fresh over the course of this last step. Loose powders and magic mists are both great in their own way, so have fun figuring out where you fall in the spectrum. Whether it's a champagne blush, or a rainbow sundae look, make sure to take plenty of selfies--or else you won't feel like you've had fun.
Some of the hardest people to attend concerts with are the people who refuse to go for fear of getting sweaty. Sure, it's embarrassing, but it's not the end of the world and with a little preparation it's not too hard to stay dry and clean. One option is department store brands such as the models' own, Clinique. Another option is olive oil mixed with fragrance free lotion which is more of a DIY type of solution. Sports breeds such as Axe or other products that work for the gym may also come in handy. It is also possible to use a fixative spray which will ensure that once it is wet it remains in place – try purchasing some at the drugstore or a Sephora. It is best to start out with good skin care – even though it will be unavoidable to get sweaty, a correctly hydrated skin will be less oily and thus less likely to sweat. Moreover, to avoid inadvertently smearing makeup onto everything around you, we recommend using an oil free foundation or being very careful with those dressed in latex or spandex.
When it comes time to care for your body to keep from getting sweaty, another option is to don sport spandex under your outfit and when you start to sweat, they should never come down or ride up. Finding a well ventilated spot close to the stage may also be helpful as this will cause less movement and sweating. Whatever you do, just remember not to avoid the process. When you wear a good deodorant or use an alcohol pad before the festivities and time to go meet your friends, you are less likely to be affected by wet anxiety about the possibility of getting sweaty.
